Sunshine sets sail to Cuba from Charleston

Nine late 2019 through 2020 cruises to Havana

Most sailings will include stop in Freeport, Bahamas

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Sunshine will continue to sail nine cruises to Havana from Charleston in 2020, continuing a popular route that made its debut in April.

The Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line ship will sail 2-, 3- and 4-night cruises to the Cuban capital, most of which will include a stop in Freeport, Bahamas. The first 2020 cruise will depart Charleston on March 8.

Other than Royal Caribbean International, which is widely recognized for its state-of-the-art Oasis of the Seas ship, cruise lines such as Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise Line have also begun to offer sailings to Cuba.

The Sunshine is a 2,200-passenger ship offering cruises to the Bahamas and Cuba from four U.S. ports. Its Cuba cruises from Charleston are a two-night option with a stop in Freeport, and a three-night voyage with one day and two nights in Havana. The four-night itinerary has two days at the Cuban port.

In its first week of sailing to Cuba last spring, the Sunshine carried more than 3,000 passengers from Charleston to Havana. The ship was the first to sail to the island from the South Carolina port since 1961.
